The Journey Begins

“There is no better way to start a venture than by acknowledging the Lord of Mercy and the Giver of Mercy to mankind.”

Since time immemorial humans have wondered about the mysteries of the Earth they live in and the universe beyond.  The ancients even worshiped the Sun and the Moon as the Creator of the universe.  Human evolution with the scientific advancement over fifteen millennia has revealed many facets of the creation, but there are many more to be explored and discovered.

Those who ponder, cannot help but wonder at the miracle of human creation – as to how out of a fraction of a drop of semen an individual with faculties of sight, hearing, speech and intellect is brought to earth!  This phenomenon has puzzled philosophers and thinkers over the past many millennia which ultimately led to the quest for  understanding the universe, purpose of life on earth and the Creator of mankind.  The astronomical search and experiments in the SEARN laboratory are rife today for that very purpose.

Scientific advancement over centuries has brought about better understanding of the Universe.  Everyday we are learning something new about our planet and the world beyond, but human beings have a very very long way to go.  Although science has contributed immensely to understanding nature/creator/God but without spiritual insight the task of comprehending nature will not produce desired results.  It is the spiritual development of humans that we are concerned about and discuss on this forum.

To the best of human knowledge, God Almighty has communicated to His children going back thousands of years, by appointing messengers among themselves, who passed on a code of conduct to their people.  All the messengers of God, at all times, preached one and the same essential truth: existence and oneness of God and the same ethical and moral principles for life on earth.  The Holy Bible and other religious scriptures guide us to the same truth.

The final and most comprehensive Divine Revelation was to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from 610 to 632 AD, which provided definitive directions to mankind how to live their life in this world and prepare for the afterlife.

The Holy Qur’an makes it crystal clear in the following verses:

4.174:  “O Mankind God has sent a light unto you that is manifest”.

2.2: “This is a Divine Message, there is no doubt about it, is a guidance for All mankind who are God conscious”.

2.121: “Those to whom We have conferred our Divine Message, should follow it As it should be followed”.

36.69.70: “This is no less a message and a plain Qur’an making things clear; that it may give warning to those who are truly alive”.

47.24: “Will they not seek to understand the Qur’an? Are there locks upon their hearts”?

The above listed are just some of the verses reminding mankind to follow the edict of the Almighty.  All messengers from the time of Noah were blessed with similar Divine Revelations.  The authenticity of the Qur’an has been established by even 21st century carbon dating of the text.

Whereas education and research (the very essence of the first Qur’anic word ‘Iqra’) has taken mankind to the Moon, exploring the wonders of the Earth and universe beyond, the Muslim Ummah has been gradually loosing its material as well as spiritual position in this world for almost one thousand years.  The position today is nothing less than catastrophic.  One does not have to look far to realize the plight of Ummah at present:   from Libya, Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan (to mention the main ones) and many others where injustice, ignorance, sectarianism and corruption has become a way of life.  According to the Holy Qur’an, killing of any innocent person is absolutely forbidden let alone a fellow Muslim.

Almighty Allah was addressing the entire mankind when He Ordained: in S5.3: “… And chosen for you Islam (self-surrender unto Me) to be your Deen (way of life)”.  A similar Divine Message was ordained to all the prophets: Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad (PBUH) and others who are not mentioned in the Semitic Scriptures.  Have the Muslims today really understood the Quranic significance of the word ‘Islam’?  Obviously NOT!  Had the Muslims today  understood  the Qur’an as it should be understood and followed it as it is Ordained to be followed, their status in this life would have been far better than it is today.

With this in mind I am attempting to put across the significance of understanding the Qur’an and following it as it should be followed.

May the Almighty Allah help me and all those who strive to understand and follow the Divine Message, Ameen.

  1. The Prophet (SA), had left two things amongst the followers, a. The Qur’an and b. People of his Beyt (ehl all Beyt). Understanding of the Quran was, long ago, abandoned in the rats race which became the life style of Ummah in the last 1400 years. Ehlal Beyt, on the other hand, were dispatched to pieces, massacred and humiliated.
Is this rocket science that why Muslims are disconnected from the soul of Islam! Hajj, Qur’an, fasting, prayers…everything is business and leadership of Muslims…..Inna lillah wa inna ilaehi rajeuun.
